Committed to excellence in pharmaceutical and device research and certification; Dr. Epstein has completed over 90 studies as principal investigator or senior investigator. He has experience in a broad range of pharmaceutical and device products. He has worked on and helped develop the clinical and regulatory pathway from early phase and preclinical testing to post marketing studies. He has worked in smoking cessation, ingestible event markers, pain management and conscious sedation and anesthesia.
He began working in clinical investigations shortly after leaving the Air Force in 1990, where he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his development of the armed forces ambulatory surgical capabilities. He has developed medical devices and holds patents for several that have been commercialized. Dr Epstein has a long history with the FDA, serving on several advisory boards over a 12 year span. He has served as advisor to numerous manufactures across the industry in all phases of product development approval. Dr. Epstein is a board certified internist and gastroenterologist. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastrointestinal Association. He has also served a member of the Board of Trustees at Anne Arundel Medical Center, as well as President of the Medical Staff of Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Robin Doremus, RN, Vice President, Clinical
Robin Doremus, RN has enjoyed a long career in clinical research and nursing. At Investigative Clinical Research since 2007, she has managed the investigation of new pharmaceuticals and devices. Prior to coming to ICR, she was Practice Manager and Clinical Trials Coordinator for LifeSpan DevelopMental Systems in Poughkeepsie, NY, where she coordinated all clinical, regulatory and administrative aspects of over 40 trials for new drug development to treat Alzheimer’s disease, major and treatment resistant depression, vascular dementia, and anxiety disorders. Previously, Robin served as Director of Nursing at Fishkill Health Center where she was instrumental in developing and managing one of the nation’s first person-centered care programs for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.

Teresa DeHaemer, M.S., Vice President, Operations
Teresa DeHaemer has over eight years of clinical research experience within a variety of treatment areas including neurology, anesthesiology, arthritis, smoking cessation, mental health, genetic disorders and gastroenterology. Teresa held a position at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she coordinated complex clinical trials involving both inpatient and outpatient treatment for neuropathic pain. While working for a large CRO, Teresa was placed on a long-term assignment to the National Institutes of Health within the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. There she managed an inpatient trial for the treatment of a genetic lipid storage disorder. Another position held at a large outpatient clinical research facility involved coordination of high enrollment trials for treatment of migraine, tension headache, arthritis and others.

Ash Barksdale, BS, Project Manager
Ash Barksdale graduated with a BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry from Texas State University – San Marcos in 2007. She recently joined the Epstein Associates team in 2010 as a research associate, assisting in gathering and analyzing background information for clinical, medical and regulatory consulting. She previously worked with IMC/Kevric editing and managing the PubMed medical information database system for the National Library of Medicine.

Ronald R. Price, Sr., Director of Nanotechnology Initiative
Involved in medical research since 1975, Ron Price managed the Electron Microscopy facility at Wright State University Medical School for 5 years, where he helped develop Human Tumor Clonal Assays in conjunction with the Hipple Cancer Research Laboratory. Additional areas of research included dermatology, neurology, and ultrastructural anatomy and microencapsulation.
Dr. Price joined the Biomolecular Engineering Group at the US Naval Research Laboratory in 1984 where he was actively involved in a variety of scientific research projects with a focus on biomimitic sensors, controlled release technology utilizing microencapsulation in lipid tubules, development of applications for halloysite nanotubes, and polysaccharide chemistry. He has over 40 years of research experience, has authored numerous abstracts and peer-reviewed publications, and was instrumental in the development of a wide range of patents, as well as serving on the editorial board od the Journal of Microencapsulation. As a project manager he brought multi-million dollar projects in on time and often under budget. His unique approach to problem solving has led to consultations on nanotechnology and controlled release projects worldwide.
